Rotation at subduction margins: How complexity at fault‐scale (the 2019 Albanian M <sub>w</sub> 6.4 earthquake) mirrors the regional deformation

A variety of tectonic processes spread along the circum-Mediterranean orogenic belts driven by convergence major plates, episodes slab retreat and lateral vertical mantle flows. Here, we provide an updated view crustal stress strain-rate fields for Albanides belt in eastern Adria-Eurasia boundary. We framed a new geodetic-based source model 2019 Mw6.4 Durrёs earthquake light regional deformation, propending transpressional west-dipping seismogenic fault. Our results highlight fault-scale complexity which mirrors long-time scale deformation plate boundary, where rotation induced fast Hellenic rollback is accommodated also transpression on inherited structures.
